About this deal

Annie Sloan’s dark wax is a very good product, but its consistency is a little hard compared to some other brands. When using A.S. dark wax, I usually pre-mix it with a soft clear wax to make it more workable. I hope this was helpful. Thanks for reading and feel free to ask me questions in the comments area below! work in sections at a time when waxing. Make sure to buff that section first before moving on to another section (example: wax the top of the desk first then buff before moving on to the legs).

waxing replaces having to use a polyurethane coat and is typically used over chalk-type paints or Fusion Mineral Paint (FMP is an acrylic but goes on like a chalk type paint). One of the simplest and most beautiful ways to give an antique look to a piece of painted furniture is by applying dark wax. Wood grain remains visible with ‘transparent’ tones and wood grain is hidden (after two coats) of ‘intensive’ tones. Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time and the typical smell of oil.wax will make your furniture piece a bit darker in color but will leave a smooth buttery finish. If you don’t want this look, then don’t wax but it will be prone to scuffs and chips. Follow these steps and I know you’ll be able to create something beautiful and one of a kind. videos:

Important: For mechanically loaded areas, e.g. flooring, we recommend max. one coat and generally a thin top coat with clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original. For white flooring, a top coat with lightly white pigmented Osmo Polyx®-Oil Tints 3040 White. Drying time of Wood Wax Finish used on floors, approx. 24 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23 °C/ 50 % rel. humidity). Ventilate well while drying. After 2-3 weeks, the floor surface is fully cured. Hi, is it possible to use the dark wax to antique wood kitchen cabinets? I’m not wanting to paint them but more so just update them if possible but I’m not sure how to go about it. Any help would be appreciated.Adding dark furniture wax adds such great depth to a painted piece of furniture. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to add clear wax and dark wax to a piece of furniture. For application on antique or fine furniture apply the wax with a clean white lint-free cloth and allow to dry. When dry, buff to a fine finish with a clean white lint-free cloth. Further applications may be made in the same manner and will give increased hardness and shine. If you think you went too heavy in a certain area, don’t panic. Just apply a little clear wax over the dark wax and wipe it with a clean rag. The clear wax will remove the most of the dark wax so you can start that spot over. Lightly coloured glazing effect: within 20 minutes after applying the coat, wipe with a cloth or a white pad along the wood grain. On the left side, I’m going to be applying clear furniture wax to the chair first. On the right side, just dark wax.

Regular Cleaning: Dust mopping using the green Dust-Mop from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Damp mopping using Osmo Wash and Care or Osmo Spray-Mop. For dark and extractive-rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Mahogany, Merbau etc.), we recommend applying Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. Trial application is recommended.Multi-purpose cleaners such as washing up liquids and detergents are highly detrimental to the finished surface and is not recommended to be used as discolouration or staining may be possible. Other household cleaning products such as vanish, bleach, baking soda etc. are likely to cause severe discolouration or staining. wax and buff the wax in the same direction as the grain of wood just as you would with paint. Some circular motions when buffing are fine too. As a colouring primer for flooring: Leave to dry for approx. 24 hrs to allow pigmentation to cure before applying second coat with Osmo Polyx®-Oil. Immediately after applying it, wipe off the excess using a clean rag. How much wax you remove is up to you. Remove more if you want just a subtle antique look, such in this chair, or leave most of it if you want it to look beautifully old.

The wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (max. 18% moisture content). Osmo Wood Wax Finish is ready to use. Do not thin. Stir well before use. Mylands Wax is a unique product and is still manufactured to original recipes. It has been used successfully by antique restorers for well over a century. Mylands Traditional Wax Polishes are still manufactured to original recipes which are over 100 years old. They are formulated on the purest and hardest natural waxes available including Beeswax, Carnauba and Shellac Wax. Multiple applications will give increased durability and deeper shine. In addition to their use on wood, lighter coloured waxes may be used on metal and stone. Also, the clear wax allows time to ‘play around’ with the effect you want and it allows you to take more off or add more on smoothly and easily. You can apply wax right away. It will get darker and a little harder to remove It, if you decide to. The look is a very antiqued one, not so subtle. Beeswax Paste with Pure Turpentine is a traditional paste wax that nourishes wood and gives an authentic finish to furniture....
