It’s a shame that not all episodes could be licensed, but with 90+ episodes totalling forty hours, there is more than enough to satisfy.

by offering to purchase goods and services you represent to us that you are 18 years of age or over and authorise us to transmit information (included updated information) to obtain information from third parties, including but not limited to, your debit or credit card numbers or credit reports to authenticate your identity, to validate your credit card, to obtain an initial credit card authorisation and to authorise individual purchase transactions. On one infamous edition of the programme, the male non-celebrity was handed the title he had to mime on a card by host Michael Aspel, but, rather than read the title, he read the wrong side of the card, on which his name was printed. The episodes appear to have been sourced from the original master tapes and are of excellent quality. The episode also featured two great challenges for the captains with Lionel doing a terrific job with It's Hard To Tell The Depth Of A Well By The Length Of The Handle On Its Pump (Dave Lee Travis and Biggins were on their feet roaring out answers in the second half of the final minute) and Liza's team correctly guessing her performance of I've Got Tears In My Eyes From Lying On My Back In Bed While I Cry Over You in under a minute. Yesterday is a cancelled cheque; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have - so spend it wisely.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. I’m not sure how they’re chosen, but many seem very pushy, outspoken and full of themselves - more like prototype Big Brother contestants than the timid and endearingly awkward types usually seen on game shows of this era. Nothing past the end of the Thames era in 1992 interests me so I'm not too bothered about seeing a revamped version. Hosted by Michael Aspel, each contestant has two minutes to get their teammates to guess their mime – otherwise it's thrown open to the other team for a bonus point!

I had my doubts I'd find it as enjoyable as the prime time version, but it's certainly not without its charms (helped by the fact that this is the era I most clearly remember watching). Each character has her moment, with her own challenge to overcome, from the process of ageing and worries over children, to cheating spouses and turning to the bottle. The original host was Michael Aspel from 1979 to 1984, followed by Michael Parkinson from 1984 to 1992.

And although it’s hard to imagine anybody sitting through an entire disc in one go (it does get a wee bit repetitive after a while), playing along with the game can be fun, despite the fact that some of the titles are of long-forgotten songs or TV shows. The game is based on charades, a party game where players used mime rather than speaking to demonstrate a name, phrase, book, play, film or TV programme. The shows on this set feature a galaxy of celebrities, comedians and actors, including: Kenneth Williams, Diana Dors, Richard O’Sullivan, Barbara Windsor, Robin Askwith, David Jason, Yootha Joyce, Mollie Sugden, Paula Wilcox, Spike Milligan, Russ Abbot, Warren Mitchell, Kenny Everett, June Whitfield, Terry Scott, Dick Emery, Maureen Lipman, Beryl Reid, Rodney Bewes, Faith Brown, Paul Eddington, John Inman, Dudley Moore, Victoria Wood, all three Goodies and two Doctors Who! Back then, Jill's team was perhaps the strongest female team I'd seen because everyone was sharp as a tack and worked well together. With there being only a handful of episodes available I'm already at Series Thirteen from 1987 which appears to be the first with Michael Parkinson and Liza Goddard replacing Aspel and Una.
