Almost every Titanic video and documentary was watched over and over again to try and find the answers to the questions which the following pages raise. One of the more unsettling superstitions concerns the mummy case of the Egyptian High Priestess Amen-Ra. Alas, neither inquiry was able to provide any certainty to one question: did the band play "Nearer My God To Thee" as the ship went down? A text attributed to Omar Khayyám was translated into English in the mid-19th Century by man of letters Edward FitzGerald.

Stories on some of the wealthy and famous passengers have also been covered, with detailed accounts of their actions during the sinking. Even though this book focuses on topics I would not normally believe in (Omens etc), there is considerable information and stories here to keep those of us who are, fascinated. First published in 1986, it was updated in the 1990s to include new information and photographs following the discovery of the wreck, which Eaton and Haas, both acknowledged Titanic experts, had seen for themselves from a submersible. This book was a treasure trove of information that I did not know and I managed to gobble this book up within a short few hours. They were confident, and ready to sail, not knowing that the Titanic would never make it to New York City.

The Titanic Disaster Omens, Mysteries, and Misfortunes is an interesting read for those who are interested in omens and mysteries associated with the sinking of the Titanic. Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. It is simply the result of very careful study of previous Titanic material and I feel that if anyone deserves credit for exposing the true fate of these passengers then it must be Walter Lord. It was said that anyone who gazed into her face (which was painted onto a wooden “mummy-board” or inner coffin lid) would suffer agonizing consequences.

Titanic Hotel Belfast is ideally located in the centre of the Titanic Quarter, an area transformed over the past decade into Northern Ireland’s premier leisure destination with numerous visitor attractions, heritage assets, restaurants and public spaces just metres from the hotel, making the building one of the best hotels in Titanic Quarter to explore the city. Illustrator Ken Marschall has included dozens of paintings, photographs, and diagrams that provide an insight into the voyage of the ship. Our iconic building is just a short walk from Belfast City Centre, with easy access to public transport. These are available in multiple languages, as well as a children's version and one tailored to meet the needs of those visually impaired. I have been fascinated with the story; I can't even imagine how full of fear everyone on board must have been. Born to a Dutch father and Indonesian mother, she took up the life of a bon vivant in 1920s Paris and modeled for Vogue magazine and Coco Chanel. Amenities include flat screen TV with entertainment system, luxurious toiletries and free wifi access in each room. From those who struggled to escape from the bottom of the ship to the hundreds of passengers floating on the frigid waters waiting for rescue, every angle of the tragedy has been covered lucidly and in stunning detail.

Belfast is the birthplace of Titanic and this heritage hotel is a sister to our award-winning Titanic Hotel Liverpool. I am not a believer in psychic energy, but the author does a wonderful job of bringing everything together as the book progresses. There are many myths surrounding the ship, ranging from supernatural warnings of danger through to the belief that all women and children were offered places on the lifeboats first. Meet the captain, crew, and passengers from all walks of life who lost their lives or survived the sinking. There is also some speculation of an Egyptian mummy's coffin lid being on board - and the associated curses that may have influenced the sinking of this magnificent ship.
