As the Trigger is based on the full-size V7 vacuum, we found it to be bulkier than most handheld vacuums. This can make it awkward to use in the tightest locations, although it’s still a great choice for car seats and stairs. We think the Dyson V7 Trigger is an excellent handheld vacuum. The 30-minute run-time is long enough for almost any small cleaning job, plus we found it provides great cleaning performance on almost any surface. One of the things we love about the V7 Trigger is the mini motorised tool, which is a small attachment consisting of a powered brush bar and stiff bristles. During our tests, using this tool made the vacuum much more effective at removing stubborn dirt, as the vacuum can agitate debris rather than relying on suction power alone. Admittedly, the battery life on the V7 Trigger isn't amazing, and probably sits around the mid range for a handheld vac. Particularly when it comes to the max power mode, which will only give you six minutes before it bites the dust.

Disassemble the housing (unscrew two screws next to the handle and four screws around the housing at the top) And in max mode, the suction is second-to-none. I'd say you'd be hard pressed to find a handheld that does the same job on both carpets and hard surfaces. Key specs – Dimensions (WDH): 280 x 390 x 1,065mm; Weight: 7.4kg; Bin capacity: 1.8l; Vacuum type: Upright; Bagless: Yes; Suction power – stated: 90AW The V7 Trigger includes a washable filter, which you’ll need to keep clean to maintain the vacuum’s suction power. There is no HEPA filter included with the vacuum, which is a shame considering we think many people will be using this vacuum for cleaning pet dander and other allergens. Obviously, there's no floor performance stats to discuss, as it doesn't really matter here. But whatever other surface you're working on, the V7 Trigger will clean it.Unlike older Dyson cordless vacuums, the V7 Trigger has the company’s new hygienic emptying system. To empty the vac, you pull up the cylinder to allow dust and debris to fall into a bin. The great thing about this system is that you (usually) don’t need to touch the dirt, as it’s pushed out of the canister by a silicone collar.

Like all Dyson vacuums, the V7 Trigger is a bagless model that’s built with two tiers of radial cyclones to capture microscopic dust and other particles. The cyclonic design also prevents loss of suction as the vacuum fills up, which is a common problem for cheaper handheld vacs. There’s an increase in the suction, naturally, with this new vacuum’s stated suction power upgraded to 240 air watts, compared with 185 air watts in the equivalent V11. However, the headline innovations in this model are located in its motorised heads. The V7 Trigger comes with a 21.6V battery that can provide a maximum of 30-minutes suction power. This is much longer than many handheld vacs (some models last less than 10 minutes), making the Trigger a great choice for longer cleaning sessions. The Absolute model comes with three of these in the box: a hard floor head with a laser that highlights the dust on your floor to give you proof of your clean; a new High Torque Head that combs hair from itself as it vacuums your carpets; and a smaller motorised head for furniture and stairs with a unique corkscrew-shaped brush that releases hair from itself as it spins.Cleaning your entire house with a small handheld vacuum such as V7 Trigger will be a challenge. However, small tasks are where the V7 really comes into its own, whether it’s removing dust from your skirting boards, cleaning out crumbs from your car, or keeping the stair carpets clean.

All Dyson cordless vacuums are built with a trigger system – and the V7 Trigger is no exception. This means you need to hold down the trigger when vacuuming with the V7, which can become tiring if you want to use up its 30-minute battery life – particularly for people with arthritis. The advantage of this system is that the battery lasts longer, as the motor is only running when the vacuum is actually being used. The mini motorised tool is great for cleaning most surfaces, but it’s too bulky for awkward locations. It may also be too abrasive for delicate surfaces. For this reason, Dyson has included the following tools: The V7 Trigger weighs just 1.38kg, so it’s considerably lighter than corded vacuums. It’s also lighter than most cordless vacuums, largely because it doesn’t have a wand or full-size floorhead. If you need a lightweight vacuum cleaner for convenient cleaning, then the Trigger is a great choice. In almost all cases, the Dyson Trigger button is broken in the above problems and you will have to replace it. How the Dyson Trigger button works We found the Dyson V7 Trigger to be a useful tool for cleaning cars, due to the cordless design and 30-minute battery life. During our tests, the mini motorised tool was also effective at removing crumbs, hair and other loose debris from car seats and footwells. The screen on the vacuum unit also has new features and while it still helps you choose your cleaning mode and shows you how long your battery has left, it also reports on how well the V15 is cleaning your home and what kind of dust and dirt particles it’s collecting. It also comes with extensions aplenty. As well as the main vacuum unit, the extension pole and extra-large cleaning head (with hair removal veins to keep it clean), the Dyson Outsize comes with a smaller soft head for hard floors and a mini-motorised tool for cleaning stairs and other inconvenient places. You’ll also get a variety of brushes, adaptors and other extensions.
